As long as Astra lived in a state of peacefulness, everything was peaceful. Her planet kept on spinning, Astra kept on spinning around her planet observing the changes of day and night, of cold and warmth, of cloudy weather and clear weather.
But now what? Astra found herself thinking about her future, well, an imaginary future.
"I am simply going to spin alone the rest of my existence, with no reason, without doing anything interesting, without having any exciting experiences. That’s a life?"
She sighed.
"Something is missing", she thought, "but I don’t know what". Once again restlessness. Now her thoughts were questions, questions without answers.
"I wonder what will happen. Why am I here?"
And she continued like this for another million years.
To be continued.
Soy Lorena.

Wet Leaves/ Hojas Mojadas
Wet leaves on the soggy grass.
My labyrinth feels heavy, waterlogged
As rust-colored leaves rain down over me
Greeting me in this balmy, overcast morning.
I do my run today on the pavement
Instead of the soft earth, which I prefer.
It doesn’t feel like fall.
There is no crispiness to the air
No chill that gives a hint of what’s to come.
Today could be a day in early May or late April.
I am not complaining.
On the contrary, I am grateful.
I welcome the humidity,
The heavy softness that caresses my skin
As I sweat during my morning workout.
I come inside where Sammy is waiting for me
Purring his “hello.”
I breathe deeply.
“Oh, my God,” I think. “How beautiful is my life.”
Hojas Mojadas
No parece otoño.
No me quejo.
Respiro profundo.
“Dios mío,” pienso, “Qué bella es mi vida.”

This Life/ Esta Vida
Yes, this life….I think I have something to say.
“Are we becoming cynical?” he asked me.
“No,” I said, “we’re just being realistic.”
But that’s how cynicism starts, you think you’re being realistic, he told me.
Is is boredom?
Is it depression?
This feeling of Is this all there is?
Are we tired? Tired of this life?
Maybe we’re just not living in the moment. Maybe we’re longing for something that doesn’t exist…something lasting. Nothing here lasts. That’s the problem. We are never satisfied and we spend our time with distractions, the movies, the Internet, chess, eating out, something, anything to take away this feeling, this strange feeling I can’t really name.
Perhaps we’re living too long. There’s irony here too. It’s very ironic because lately everything is working out for me, everything is happening so beautifully. I’m meeting my goals, the universe is being so good to me, my wishes are being granted. The genie is out of the bottle and standing right next to me saying “YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND.”
So why am I struggling to feel comfortable in this life? Why am I not totally happy all the time? I read Eckhart Tolle and he says if you’re not happy it’s because you’re not “in the moment.”
Yeah, maybe that’s it, I’m just not “in the moment.” I think I know that.
So, where am I?
The universe gave me a surprise today, a bonus, little piece of sweetness that I’m trying to hold onto. In my front yard there appeared a doe with her two baby fawns, their darling bodies still covered in white spots. They bounced over the labryinth and darted into the woods. Such innocence.
There was a time when I was innocent too.
Oh, well…
Ah, bueno…
Soy Lorena.

La Nube/ The Cloud
--No soy nada atrevido,--dijo Alón tristemente.

Alon looked up, down and all around, but he didn’t see anyone. It must be my imagination, thought Alon. He felt the breeze, he felt the sun’s rays, he felt the strength and power of his majestic parents, but besides that, nothing else.
Three, four, five years went by with their changes of seasons, their beautiful days, their snowfalls, their storms, their rains as soft as a kiss, their sunshiny summers, their merciless winters and Alon grew and grew each year bigger and stronger, but the longer he lived the more bitter he became. In fact, he was always asking himself why was I born? What am I supposed to do here? Why am I not free to roam around like other beings on the Earth? Alon asked a lot of questions, but he didn’t receive the answers.
One day in the summer while Alon was being bored with his life, he noticed something strange with the clouds. They were changing shapes very quickly as if being pushed by the wind, but there was no wind. Suddenly a cloud came near to him at a tremendous speed. It was a big face with eyes, nose and a mouth and the mouth was in the shape of a big smile. Alon felt cool air coming from the cloud and it covered him with its freshness. He shivered.
“Hi, Alon,” said the cloud. “I’m sorry if I’m making you cold, it’s just that I came from very high up where it’s really cold and I unwittingly bring it with me.”
“That’s okay,” answered Alon. “But what’s your name? And how do you know my name?”
The cloud laughed with a laugh that sounded like little pieces of crystals hitting against each other softly. “I’ve known you for a looooong time. In fact, I saw you before you sprouted, when a squirrel planted the acorn that would turn into you. I whispered in the ears of your parents so they would give you the name ‘Alon Daring.’ “
“I’m not at all daring,” Alon said sadly.
“Alon!” said the cloud now changing shape in order to look like a little girl with her hands on her hips and a serious look on her face. “Stop being all wrapped up in yourself and look at the truth, yes, the truth. We all have our place here on this planet, we all have the right to be here and we all have our purpose. You are no more or no less than any other being, and look at your parents so strong, beautiful, majestic, who will easily live to be a hundred or more. Some day you will be like them.
“But I can’t go anywhere. I have to stay in the same place my whole life.”
“Oh, Alon, when are you going to understand?” asked the cloud.

El Silencio Habla/ Silence Speaks
El Silencio habla
Detiene el momento
Lo lleva en sus brazos
Lo acaricia
El Silencio no es malo
Da tiempo a respirar profundo
A reflexionar
A llegar a la tranquilidad
En el Silencio
Uno puede estar consigo mismo
Para escuchar sus propios pensamientos
Sin interrupciones
El Silencio es aire fresco
Aliento nuevo
Otra oportunidad
De vivir una vida distinta
Silence speaks
It holds the moment
Holds it in its arms
And caresses it
Silence is not bad
It allows time to breathe deeply
To reflect
To arrive at a quiet place
In Silence one can be with oneself
To listen to one’s own thoughts
Without interruptions
Silence is fresh air
New breath
Another opportunity
To live a different life

¿Soy igual o soy distinta?
Ah, tengo doce días más de edad.
Así
es
la
vida
en este planeta
en este momento…
Soy Lorena.

On the Verge
I'm on the verge of learning something new. I'm on the verge of understanding the Universe, (well, okay, maybe not quite that close yet), but I am on the verge of living another day. And that's pretty cool I think. I read a quote once by someone German but I can't remember his name. He said "Don't do anything unless the NOT doing it becomes a positive nuisance to you." So you see, I must create music or poetry or simply movement, because if I don't life then becomes too difficult for me. Why does creating bring about such satisfaction? In France I saw the cave paintings and they were amazing.
I am happy and sad at the same time. I am frustrated and satisfied at the same time. Night and day, luna y sol. I am reflected in the Sun.
Soy Lorena.
